Guidelines for Dental Procedures for Pregnant Patients
Please share the below with your Dentist if you need to have a Dental procedure. Routine Dental care is recommended during pregnancy.
Routine dental work should probably be postponed until about 14 weeks of pregnancy if possible. Serious dental conditions such as abscesses should be taken care of at any time during pregnancy.
Any x-rays that are necessary should be performed with the patients abdomen shielded.
Nitrous oxide, sedation, and epinephrine should be avoided.
Antibiotics that have a broad spectrum and are acceptable include penicillins, cephalosporins, erythromycins, or Zithromax.
Pain medicines that are acceptable include codeine/Tylenol combinations, hydrocodone/Tylenol combinations, and Darvocet.
